why montessori?

A child-centered approach that values the whole child

Developed by Dr Maria Montessori over a century ago, the method is grounded in scientific observation of how children naturally learn and develop.

Individualised pace

Each child progresses at their own pace, moving ahead when ready, or receiving support without feeling “behind”.

Fostering independence

Prepared environments with child-sized furniture empower children to take responsibility and build self-confidence.

Hands-on learning

Specialised materials make abstract concepts concrete, children see and feel how an operation happens.

Mixed-age classrooms

Three-year age spans mirror the real world, letting older children mentor and younger children learn by observing.

Intrinsic motivation

Rather than gold stars or grades, we nurture curiosity and the satisfaction of mastering a new skill.

Social-emotional skills

Peace, respect and community are core, children learn grace, courtesy and peaceful conflict resolution.

Evidence of success: research published in Science suggests Montessori students often outperform peers, not just in reading and maths, but in executive function, social cognition and a concern for fairness. Famous Montessori graduates include the founders of Google, Jeff Bezos, and Prince George.
